Birds & Flowers in Persian Art: Drawing

Birds and flowers are an inseparable pair in Persian art and literature; together, they stand as the metaphor of the loved and the beloved both earthly and divine. In this course, we will focus on drawing techniques namely the intricate line work and tonal value which are essential to this style, with special attention to form, light and shadow, and composition in Persian art. Participants will learn to draw 3 to 4 types of flowers—including wild rose, carnation, snowball and marigold —as well as a butterfly, exploring their organic forms within the framework of the Persian Gol o Morgh style.

This course is a continuation of our Bird and Flower series, following the previous course focused on birds and roses. However, it is not necessary to have completed the first course in order to join this one. It is designed for everyone who has a passion to learn a new style from the  basics. So, no prior experience is required.

By the end of the course, participants will have completed at least one refined Persian-style “flower and bird” drawing , build confidence and developed their skills, laying the foundation for brushwork technique, which will be covered in a following course.

These are the materials you need:
