This course introduces participants to the art of gilding within the tradition of Persian miniature painting. Through a series of step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice, you will explore both the material and aesthetic aspects of working with gold leaf.
 
 
You will learn how to:
 
Prepare paper for gilding
Apply gold leaf on paper
Prepare the gold surface for painting
Transfer your pattern on the gilded surface
Paint over gold background
 
 
The course focuses on two methods of gilding used in Persian art. By the end, you will have gained confidence in applying and handling gold leaf and will complete small painted artworks on your own gilded background.
 
No previous experience is required — this course is suitable for both beginners and those wishing to refine their skills in Persian illumination techniques.

The course will be running in 5 consecutive weeks with each session lasting 90 minutes. During the course, participants will be able to send their progress to our tutor and receive the instructions and feedback individually.
