Mostly, the borders in Persian manuscripts are lavishly and extensively decorated so that they can be considered an independent form of art from the paintings that they surrounded. From vegetal to figural and animal motifs are portrayed widely in the manuscripts borders.

This course will explore these monochrome golden borders, and the focus will be on the floral and vegetal motifs.
