MORE ABOUT THE COURSE
While working on this piece, you will be familiar with the principals of compositions when you combine the two main motifs (Khataei and Islimi). The focus will be on a quarter of this composition, however, through completing 1/4 of this Shamsah students will acquire the skill and knowledge to complete and paint the entire page by themselves. The course will be running in 8 weeks, and each session will last 120 minutes. The classes will be held in a group format; however, Students are able to send their practices to our tutor and receive the instructions and corrections individually.
No background in arts is necessary; so beginners are welcome too.
This practice‐based course focuses on this beautiful Shamsah (Sunburst), a folio from the 16th century Khamsah of Nizami. The course aims to instruct how you can simply analyse, draw and paint this shamsah in Safavid style. The participants will practice the various steps of making an illumination work; from drawing the design and preparing the paper towards a finished work. The course comprises a number of lessons that students will engage in at the same time.
